indigiFLIX 2014 Screening

Inuit Cree Reconciliation will have a FREE screening at the Univerity of Toronto's First Nation house as part of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival indigiFLIX 2014 Community Screening Series during Indigenous Education Week.

Now in its fourth season, indigiFLIX is a free bi-monthly community screening series showcasing Canadian Indigenous films from the imagineNATIVE Festival’s archive to audiences in the Greater Toronto Area.

This first programme of they year will screen Friday, February 28th at 2:00pm at First Nations House. Refreshments and food will be served.

Complementing the Indigenous Education Week’s theme of “Community Relationships and Research”, this 61-minute programme features an eclectic collection of short films. Accompaning Inuit Cree Reconciliation will be two short films:

Uprooted Generation 7 minutes (Canada)

A young Innu returns to the scene of the Sept-Îles Residential School in an effort to encourage healing in his community, long haunted by ghosts of the past.

El Ultimo Consejo 11 min (Mexico)

Winner of the 2013 imagineNATIVE Cynthia Lickers-Sage Award for Best Emerging Work, the elders in an Indigenous town pass their leadership on to a younger generation. After the ceremony the treasury is empty, leaving all to wonder who stole the community’s money.
