Strata: Portraits of Humanity, June 2017 (Organic residues in pots; Passamaquoddy language keeper)

(1) Fats, oils and waxes persist for thousands of years in pottery, so organic residue analysis provides us with totally new insight into the use of pottery that was unimaginable just a few years ago. This film focuses on prehistoric ceramics from Japan and Korea. (2) Passamaquoddy leader Deanna Francis made it her mission to re-invigorate the language of her people. This film traces Deanna’s life, from a murder of a relative by five white hunters that she witnessed as a child to her leadership in bringing her Native American language back.
