Mary Jordan from The Washington Post joins Patience Mokgadi, Sandra Thandi Twala and Elizabeth Maki Khumalo from the Othandweni Children’s Home.

They work with Johannesburg Child Welfare, an organization in South Africa that works with marginalized children and members of society.

Social isolation significantly impacts individual and community health, well-being, livelihoods, and resilience, and yet few programmes and policies currently address this issue directly.

We thank the Samuel Family Foundation, the Synergos Institute and TakingITGlobal for organizing the first symposium on Overcoming Isolation and Deepening Social Connectedness in October 2014.

We encourage you to visit their web site for more information website at www.socialconnectedness.org.
