Arviat (Nuanvut) - Development Trip

October 21 - 25, 2015. Zach travels to Arviat (Nuanvut) to meet the members of the Arviat Film Society and research for his upcoming documentary series "Hunting with my Ancestors".

Arviat is an exceptional location to hunt caribou: prized for the meat, bones, fat, and hide, caribou have always been an Inuit staple. The abundance and disbursement of caribou is changing dramatically in recent years. With a moratorium on Baffin Island caribou hunting, communities are turning to the mainland and the large herds of migrating caribou that pass through towns like Arviat.
