Sandra Cuffe is an independent activist and journalist.

She was active in Montreal for the two years leading up to the protest of the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City in 2001. The following year, she traveled down to Central America, doing volunteer human rights accompaniment in Chiapas and Guatemala.

Continuing on south to Honduras in 2003, she began working with Rights Action (www.rightsaction.org) and local organizations and communities in Central America, especially on issues related to indigenous territory, political prisoners, and global mining.

In October 2007, she came up to Turtle Island for a break, and is currently traveling around, organizing, making connections, and writing on similar issues, such as solidarity efforts with communities affected by global mining, indigenous resistance, and will soon join the Longest Walk (www.longestwalk.org) for the last month heading towards Washington DC.

She will return to Central America in October, for the 3rd Hemispheric Gathering Against Militarization (Oct. 3-5, Intibuca, Honduras) and the Americas Social Forum (Oct. 7-12, Guatemala).
