What is Árbol?

Árbol Television Participative is a social organization that originated as a project in the year 2003, as part of the municipal channel for subscribers of the city of Montevideo ( tevéCIUDAD ), becoming afterward a national, regional and international organization of interest.

Its purpose is to strengthen the participation of the citizens and the community identity, basing itself on values of cohabitation, through the promotion and the support of the production and distribution of audio-visual materials, and of the development of interactive television as a tool of change, expression, dialog and action, on a local and global level.

This offer helps to foster the unique qualities of the communities, strengthening the identity and the sense of belonging in the local community and creating viable opportunities in which the participant can discover his creative ability and the possibility to transform it. This opens a new place of share and conviviality in the society, that helps to improve the quality of life of all the citizens.

Árbol organization

Currently Arbol is managed by a collective of people who have taken advantage of the Árbol Project by creating their participative videos. As a collective, we take micro- and macro-decisions and execute them across three areas of work: Production, Management and Formation.

Program hacé y mostrá (“make and show COMMUNITY television”)

The Program is produced by the organization since the year 2011, and is emitted for subscribers across the municipal channel, tevéCIUDAD, and the public channel National Television Uruguay (TNU).
