ANNOUNCEMENT

Let's Pressure the Government!

Hi, I'm the one who asked if anyone else watching tonight's lecture was interested in working together to pressure the government to tackle climate change a little more effectively. To be honest I am not entirely up-to-date on the current climate change situation, but I am fairly knowledgable and experienced in protesting, letter campaigns, and petitions. I am not sure what is the best way to approach this issue, but I'm eager to research and figure it out, and hoping for a response from people with a variety of ideas and experience. If anyone else is interested in bringing together a group of people to collaborate on a government-pressuring project, please email me at cassidy [at] uoguelph [dot] ca. Thanks!

Hmmm, Anonynous...I'm not sure what your point is. Are you trying to imply that Ms Cassidy should not participate in large-scale activism, but instead focus on "improving her life"? Have you seen the recent studies showing that activism makes you happier? It seems like the best way to improve anyone's life is for them to take part in creating change, and let their voices be heard!

As for "having it all wrong", scientists from all fields agree that global warming is actually happening. So why would we not want to act on it?  The more action, the better!

perhaps you have it all wrong though... what if you are wrong about this .. what then?  consider that... put pressure on yourself to improve your life instead.
