I hope that there is still some power attached to original letters reflecting the true wishes of thoughtful citizens. If there is anything to take away from Sheila's speech, it is that self empowerment stems from action. Taking that action yourself, even if it does not immediately affect the government, may instill inside you a growing momentum to work to better your immediate world....even if someday climate change is found to have been over exaggerated, why not work to create a more sustainable world? Don't cop out citing the economic costs - we're dealing with unquantifiable human costs when it comes to environmental damage and societal malaise.
