Volunteers are needed for the 14th annual imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, October 16 - 20, 2013! Have fun, gain experience and see Indigenous films from around the world! For FREE!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

As a non-profit organization and registered charity, we rely on the support of volunteers. Volunteering is fun and provides valuable experience and the opportunity to meet key players in the industry, while supporting a community arts organization.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to fill a number of positions before and during the Festival, October 16-20.

Some positions include:
• Guest Relations
• Theatre Ushers
• Workshop Attendants
• Airport Greeters
• Party Helpers
• Pre-festival Office Help

imagineNATIVE volunteers are rewarded for their hard work with a Festival t-shirt and a Volunteer Pass, which gives access to Festival screenings, workshops, parties, and more.

WE NEED INTERNS!

The imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival is hiring a number of unpaid Interns. Most internships start in early October with the Festival taking place October 16 – 20, 2013. All internships will require a commitment of approximately 50 hours, primarily during the dates of the Festival. Applicants must have full availability October 16-20.

The available internships include:

Content Capture Intern
This internship is a great opportunity for an emerging filmmaker to practice their skills at videography and editing. Intern must have their own good quality video camera and be willing to take direction from staff as well as use good judgment in creating compelling video. Responsibilities may include:
• Recording live industry panels
• Attending special events and screenings as requested
• Editing short videos for promotional use

Social Media Intern
Know Twitter, Facebook and more – and not just how to use it, but why it’s valuable! This internship is ideal for someone studying communications, public relations or media. Intern will need to be available throughout entire Festival, as shifts could be daytime, evenings or late nights, depending on need.
Responsibilities may include:
• Preparing newsletters, updates and tweets
• Uploading photos, reviews and more
• Live blogging/tweeting special events

Special Events Intern
This internship is a great opportunity to develop skills in event coordination as imagineNATIVE hosts a number of different events, from intimate receptions to large public performances. Candidates will need to be available for shifts that can include late nights as well as daytimes during the Festival, in addition to some weekdays before the Festival.
Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing or sourcing materials and supplies for events
• Setting up and striking venues (some heavy lifting may be required)
• Supervising volunteers

Guest Services Intern
This internship is a great opportunity to develop skills in guest relations, customer service and event coordination. Some evenings and weekends may be required during the Festival, as well as weekdays before and during the Festival.
Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing materials and information for Festival delegates
• Greeting and registering delegates on site during Festival
• Other administrative duties as requested

Mediatheque Intern
This internship is a great opportunity to develop skills in information studies, film and video or new media. Intern must be available weekdays and weekends during the Festival.
Responsibilities may include:

• Compiling a catalogue of all work available in the Mediatheque
• Organizing materials for delegates
• Troubleshooting technical problems
• Supervising volunteers during hours of operation

Industry Intern
This internship will offer invaluable access to Industry workshops and panels for emerging artists or individuals interested in the “behind the scenes” of a film festival. Intern must be available weekdays and weekends during the Festival in addition to some weekday shifts before the festival.
Responsibilities may include:

• Preparing materials
• Setting up for workshops
• Videotaping workshops

Volunteers Intern
This internship will involve working with Festival volunteers to create an excellent experience and maximize volunteer involvement. It is ideal for someone interested in human resources or events management. Intern will need to be available for some weekday shifts in advance of the Festival and then days and evenings during the festival.
Responsibilities may include:

• Creating volunteer schedules
• Contacting volunteers
• Supervising volunteers on site
