The market is not going to ease renewable sources of energy (accurately, and as needed) into replacing fossil fuels as long as governments continue to subisidize those fossil fuels.  We already live in an economy that is vastly influenced by non-market forces. Also, it has been found that fossil fuels, particularly gasoline for cars, have inelastic demands.  Thus, even if the cost of fossil fuels rises, people will still pay.  It's time for ambitious government action towards renewable sources of energy and grassroots transitions away from fossil fuel sources.  Don't wait for economic indicators - they're inaccurate now.
