The Students on Ice (SOI) Foundation is internationally recognized as a pioneer and leader in polar education. We believe in the power of connecting youth to nature and fostering within them an appreciation for the planet, themselves and each other. Experiential education in the Arctic and Antarctic is the foundation of the SOI approach. Our ship-based expeditions bring together a global team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth and staff including scientists, elders, artists, historians, and visionary leaders to engage in cross-disciplinary, hands-on learning about these critically essential regions of our planet. The result is generations of educated, inspired, and empowered youth whose connection to the land and understanding of the environmental, social, and political landscape is shaping their perspectives and impact on our world. Beyond expeditions, SOI continues to support the personal and professional development of youth by connecting them with opportunities, grants and our global network of nearly 3,000 alumni, educators, mentors, and partners.See more
