"In Nanisivik, (mining town, north of Arctic Bay) when they started to build the houses and the town, they were looking for Inuit workers and they asked us for our opinions on the mine. We were excited to think they would pay attention to our concerns and there would be employment and benefits from this mine.  But then, the men were working at the mine and so they were not hunting and their families went hungry.

In the meetings, the Inuit said to the directors of the mine :” You already decided, you thought we were ignorant”.

If the people consult us, they should be true to their word."
