Email I sent to Netflix re: Sandler's production
Dear Netflix
Due to Netflix position on the Native issues surrounding Adam Sandler's latest production, which I might add is ridiculous as much as Netflix's response to the Indigenous Artists actions and pronouncements: I am refraining from updating my automatic payment plan to utilize your services.
Ironically, I lost my debit card and went to my bank to replace it. I was going to update my Netflix account with my card, as I do enjoy your services, but then my indigenous colleagues withdrew from your production for valid reasons, which as a Native Artist and community supporter, I must stand with.
Until Netflix re-evaluates the semiotics of Sandler's script and understand the cultural significance of our position as the first people of this continent with respect to cultural authenticity, cultural appropriation, and the differences of the sacred, the profound, and the satirical, I will consider re-joining Netflix. This email will be posted on my social media pages
