Episode 3: Dog Team Bear Hunt

For as long as Inuit remember dogs were essential companions, used for winter transportation, carrying summer packs, assisting with hunts, and protecting camps from bears. From 1950-1975, RCMP and government officials slaughtered dogs across the north, forcing Inuit into sedentary lifestyles. Nowadays many Nunavummiut are returning to the practice of dog teaming, Zach follows young and elder hunters on a March polar bear hunt, using the traditional dogteam.
