Awarding Indigenous Cinema

Zach is back from Toronto's ImagineNative film festival.  It's good to see him, especially sporting festival awards for "Best Short Drama" for the Tanya Tagaq's music video "Tungijuq", as well as a "Milestone Award In recognition of outstanding contributions to Indigenous cinema". Amazing to be here in the Isuma office with all the buzz going on.

We set up our editing station for some hard core video work in the months to come. It's looking good, we've got our hard drives ready with all the footage, and a space to rock the digital story telling. Let the games begins.

Last night, to get in the spirit of being here in Igloolik, Nathalie and I watched "The Journals of Knud Rasmussen". It's a story set in this region when Shamanism and Christianity were colliding. I'm looking at the poster now and the quip is "Once a shaman abandons his fatih, there is not turning back". It's amazing to see Igloolik Isuma Productions do the work that they do. Congrats to Zach, Igloolik Isuma Productions and Tanya Tagaq!!!
