The Edmonton Red Jam Slam is a five hour event May 12 at the Canadian Native Friendship Centre in Edmonton on 11728-95 Street from 1pm to 6:30 pm. The event coordinated by Carrie Lawrence and Donald Morin under the National Community and Campus Radio Association, and produced by Red Jam Slam founder Gunargie O*Sullivan is as well accepting up to two or three Edmonton residents (Aboriginal) to share their inter-generation stories on that day. Lawrence and Morin were hired in Edmonton to help coordinate and produce the Edmonton event whereas more Red Jam Slam events to be held across Canada this year. Created to share and promote native musicians and share stories pertaining to the issues affecting native people in Canada as a result of systemic racism The Red Jam Slam desires to create an afternoon of reconciliation regarding the issues affecting Canada and her first people. We want to reconcile and share an understanding about the erroneous relationships among Canadians , the mindset of the European descendants who do not understand the fiduciary relation between Native people and the crown. The Red Jam Slam wants to shares stories of inter-generational problems that affects our families and our children. This event is about reconciliation and finding a balance to live together in peace and harmony
