Lucy Sanertanut

Lucy was born in 1953 at Wager Bay where she grew up on the land. When Lucy was 14 her family moved to Naujaat where she lived until she moved to Rankin Inlet with her husband. Lucy has gained a lot of knowledge growing up on the land rather than living in settlement. This knowledge Lucy has shared with those around her. Lucy worked for a period of time at the Department of Education in Arviat as an Elder Advisor. During this time Lucy was also able to work with Aqqiumavvik documenting the process of Aajiiqatigiingniq and how it was used in the past and how we can use this framework to create programs and research to help our communities regain a sense of balance with IQ and QQ systems.
