Highlights from the Opening Reception of "Free, Prior and Informed Consent: A symposium on human rights, Indigenous protocols and good practice"

This panel, featuring Dalee Sambo Dorough and Lorraine Land, examines the FPIC standard in international law, and how this standard has legal effect in Canada, as well as the convergence of international and domestic law in decisions such as the Tsilhqot'in Supreme Court Decision.

This panel gives examples of FPIC in the Indigenous Peoples’ exercise of their own jurisdictions, both under customary Indigenous laws and traditions, and through recently developed FPIC and engagement protocols.
