Inuit memories and experiences of shamanism, and oral histories about the last shamans practicing in the region of Igloolik, Nunavut. Interviewees range from young people to elders and politicians, but they all share a belief that things happen, and that shamanism is still a living religion.

Inuaraq's family finally arrives at Avaja to a warm welcome. Yet, many changes have taken place. On the hill above the tents, they now find a wooden church and a priest. Sharing the fresh caribou feast, telling stories, Inuit are interrupted by the bell ringing. Inside the church the sermon is clear: Paul 4:22, 'Turn away from your old way of life.'

Igloolik, Summer 1946. The distant sound of the atookatookatook, the first gas engine to arrive in Igloolik, brings a surprise visitor to Qaisut, island of the walrus hunters. Father Qaukuluk arrives to study Inuit life, to dig in the ancient ruins and to see the hunt. When it's time to go hunting, Inuaraq thinks the Priest will bring bad luck but Qulitalik finally gives in.… Uqalimakkanirit

Shomõtsi is an Ashaninka Indian living on the border of Brazil and Peru. The movie is a report on his day to day life and his journey to the neighbouring city to get his pension as well as a portait of Valdete´s hard-headed and witty uncle.

From a gathering of indigenous filmmakers at the headquarters of the Video in the Villages in Olinda, the film presents a profile of its principal filmmakers and their performance in their villages. This film is a collaboration between Cristian Jure and Cartoy Emilio, author of the film "La guerra por otros medios", and the Vídeo nas Aldeias’ team.

A partir de um encontro de realizadores indígenas na sede do Vídeo nas Aldeias em Olinda, o filme traça um perfil dos seus principais cineastas e sua atuação em suas aldeias. Este filme é fruto de uma colaboração entre Cristian Jure e Emilio Cartoy, autores do filme "La guerra por otros medios", e a equipe do Vídeo nas Aldeias.

Povo Indígena: Ashaninka

O manejo agroflorestal realizado pelos Ashaninka da aldeia Apiwtxa no rio Amônia, Acre. No filme eles registram, por um lado, seu trabalho para recuperar os recursos da sua reserva e repovoar seus rios e suas matas com espécies nativas, e por outro, sua luta contra os madeireiros que invadem sua área na fronteira com o Peru.

Indigenous People: Ashaninka

This is a traditional Haida story told in the Haida language (Xaaydaa Kil). A young boy and his grandfather live in a village. After a terrible winter, everyone else gets sick and dies. The boy and grandfather leave the village, and the grandfather says to the boy "don't look back." They travel through the forest and eventually come upon a stream.… Uqalimakkanirit

A little girl is naughty and doesn't listen to her mother. "Be nice! Or Yaanii K'uuka will get you!" One day, a beautiful woman arrives at the longhouse... This is a traditional story told in the Haida language (Xaaydaa Kil) with English subtitles.

This was a super short movie we made with Haida teens during a Teen Night at the Youth Center.

This movie was made as part of the Haidawood Media Project over a two week period in the summer of 2007. Haidawood aims to make short stop motion animated movies with the help of Haida youth, artists, and language teachers, to help promote and teach the Haida language.
